The Namungona clan takes the crow as its omuziro, the primary totem. Its akabbiro, the secondary totem, is recorded as the hearts of animals. Drawn from Roscoe (1911); this page grows as further sources are reviewed.
Roscoe (1911), listing the clans of Buganda with their totems, records the crow (Namungona) as the omuziro of this clan, with the hearts of animals as its akabbiro. Roscoe marks this among the clans whose sons could not be presented as candidates for the throne: a Kabaka might marry a woman of the clan, but her son was debarred from the succession. Roscoe also marks it among the clans that attached themselves to another clan. Roscoe records that this clan joined the Otter clan. Spelling follows Roscoe’s 1911 transcription and awaits native-speaker review.
